IAT 2025 Expected Cutoff: Category-Wise Marks

Introduction

Indian Institutes for Science Education and Research (IISERs) are among the main institutions of India dedicated to Science Education and Research. From 2024, the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) became the only admission exam for admission to the IISERs, eliminating the Kvpy and Jee Advanced channels.

Expected Cutoff for Different IISERs in 2025

Expected Cutoff for Different IISERs in 2025: IISER Pune: 120-130, IISER Kolkata: 115-125, IISER Mohali: 110-120, IISER Bhopal: 105-115, IISER Tirupati: 100-110, IISER Berhampur: 95-105 (Estimated).

IISER Pune

This is one of the most sought after campuses. The 2023 cutoff for the first round of IISER Pune was around 175, closing in the 700s in the subsequent rounds. For 2025, students should target a score of over 160 in 240 to stay competitive.

IISER Kolkata

Known for their strong physics and chemistry departments, IISER Kolkata closed rank around 883 by 2023. Thus, students seeking Kolkata should consider a target score of about 130-140 to maintain a strong application.

IISER Bhopal and Mohali

With robust infrastructure and active research projects, these campuses are also highly competitive. In 2023, cutoff ranks were around the 430-440 mark. For 2025, students should seek scores between 120-130.

IISER Thiruvananthapuram (TVM)

Focused on Interdisciplinary Sciences, IISER TVM cutoff  in 2023 hovered around a rank of 430. For 2025, a score of over 120+  would be advisable for students interested in this campus.

IISER Tirupati and Berhampur:

These newer campuses have slightly lower cutoff, making them accessible but competitive. A score of 110-120 should place students in a favorable position for these IISERs by 2025.

Expected for IISc and IIT Madras Cutoff

Predicting the cutoff is challenging, but a score of 210-220 enhances chances for IISc Bangalore in 2025. Last year, General category closed at AIR 38. Securing a top 20 rank further strengthens admission prospects based on past trends.

Analysis of 2023 IAT Cutoff Trends

IAT cutoff depends on exam difficulty, candidate volume, and seat availability. In 2023, IISc Bangalore and IIT Madras joining IAT raised competition, increasing cutoffs. With KVPY and JEE routes removed, IISER admissions rely solely on IAT scores, intensifying competition.
