The IIT JAM 2026 exam will be held on February 15, 2026. It will be a computer-based test (CBT) with two three-hour shifts: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. What are IIT JAM 2026 Exam Date?
Earlier, IIT Bombay released the JAM 2026 exam date in the notification. The exam will be held on February 15, 2026, at 117 exam centres across the nation in 8 IIT zones. The exam will test the candidate’s domain knowledge for the courses in Mathematics, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, Geology, Economics and Mathematical Statistics.
IIT Bombay will conduct the exam in online/CBT mode in two shifts for the duration of two hours.
List of Documents Required for IIT JAM 2026 Registration
For filling out the application form, applicants need to have documents required for IIT JAM 2026 application form handy, to ease down the process. Here are the list of documents which are required by the candidates:
- Class 10 marksheet (This will be required for getting the date of birth)
- Candidate’s photograph and signature in the required format.
- Category Certificate – OBC-NCL, EWS, SC/ST categories.
- Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable) or Unique Disability Identification (UDID) certificate.
- Photo Identity Document (ID): Candidates need to upload/ require details of any one of the following:
- Aadhaar ID
- Driving License

How to Fill IIT JAM Application Form 2026

Step 1: Visit the Official Website of JAM 2026
At first candidates are required to visit the official website to fill out the application form. The official website will be required for every information that one has to check or do right from filling the IIT JAM application form 2026, download of admit card, answer key, result, scorecard, cutoff and other details.

Step 2: Registration at JOAPS Portal
Candidates have to first register on JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS), by providing their name, a valid e-mail address, an active mobile number, and setting a password. After successful registration, the candidate’s Enrollment ID and OTP will be sent to the e-mail address and mobile number provided by the candidate. The candidate needs to use this Enrollment ID along with the password for submitting the application.
Step 3: Filling Required Details in JAM Application Form 2026
After logging in the registered account, candidates will be required to fill in the details asked by the exam officials.

- Exam Subject Selection: Candidate’s need to select the subject for which they wish to take the exam. One candidate can choose up to two papers, and the subject needs to be of another shift.
- Exam City Preference: A candidate can select a maximum of three cities as per their convenience. They need to specify their first, second and third exam, city centre choice mentioned on the web portal.
If you choose your first city, your zone is automatically determined. You can then only select your second and third city choices from within that same zone. If one of your chosen cities isn’t available, you’ll be assigned an alternative city.
- Personal information: In this section, candidates have to state their name, date of birth, gender, category, parents’ name, etc.
- Address for correspondence: In this section, candidates have to state the address where they would prefer any kind of future communication. The address must be stated with the pin code.
- Educational information: Under this, applicants are required to include their educational qualification information like the name of the qualifying degree, passing year, college/ university name, marks secured, etc.
- Photograph: The applicants were required to upload (in JPEG format) their passport-sized coloured photograph with the white/very light colour background. The file size should be between 5 KB and 200 KB. Selfie or casual photos wearing sunglasses, hats or caps were not to be accepted.
- Signature: The candidates are required to upload the electronic copy of their signature printed on white A4 paper in an A4-sized box with a black or dark blue ink pen. The file size can be between 5 KB and 100 KB. Once they have filled in all the details, the candidates can submit the form and go through the next step in the application process.
Step 4: Pay IIT JAM Registration Fee 2026
After filling the details ked by the exam officials candidates will be required to fill out the IIT JAM application fee online. The online transaction will be made through internet banking/debit card/ credit card.
After making the online fee payment, the application form will be finally submitted to the exam officials. Candidates will need to download the IIT JAM 2026 application form copy for future use.

IIT JAM Eligibility Criteria 2026
For the test takers to have successful admissions at IITs/NITs, candidates need to meticulously go through the mentioned JAM 2026 eligibility criteria by the examination conducting body. The eligibility criteria stipulates the minimum educational, national, age limit criteria that a test taker needs to satisfy. - The undergraduate programme should have been completed before the date of admission of the respective Admitting Institute.
- Proof of having passed the qualifying degree with required eligibility, as specified by the Admitting Institute, should be submitted within the timeline provided by the respective Admitting Institute.
Note:
Until the year 2021, the eligibility conditions for IIT JAM were such that candidates must achieve a minimum 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50 per cent aggregate or 5.0 CGPA/CPI for the reserved category candidates. But from 2022 onwards, this condition was made easier. Now, candidates will need to obtain a bachelor’s degree in the relevant subject, and no eligibility cut-off exists.
