Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore) is known for its excellence in research and higher education. The admissions process has been summarized for the academic year 2025. Aspiring applicants wishing to enroll in an Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) or Doctorate (PhD) degree should do so. IISC Bangalore UG Admission 2025

IISc’s four-year Bachelor of Science (Research) is the primary program through which it offers undergraduate courses. You can specialise in a number of subjects, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, earth science and biology through this program. 

There is also a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) program in Mathematics and Computing. After four years of this program, you can get a specialised degree in mathematics, computation, electronics and electricals.

Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their class 12 through recognised boards with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Admission is typically based on national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, IAT, or NEET.

IISC Bangalore PG Admission 2025

• Master of Science (MSc):

These programs are available at IISc in biology and chemistry. These programs prepare students for jobs in academia, research, and industry by offering a solid theoretical basis together with practical research experience.

Eligibility: You should have a solid academic history and a bachelor’s degree in a related field. The Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is the basis for admission, and an interview follows it.

• Master of Technology (MTech): 

Chemical engineering, computer science and automation, aerospace engineering, and other subjects are among the many MTech courses offered by IISc. Read more here.

Eligibility: You must hold an engineering bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in order to be considered. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) results determine admission, and interviews are conducted for the shortlisted candidates.

• Master of Design (MDes): 

If you have an interest in design and innovation, IISc offers MDes programs with specialisations in product design and engineering design. 

Eligibility: You must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Architecture/Design or equivalent with a valid CEED/GATE score or should have a degree/diploma from NID/NIFT/MIT and a valid CEED score. You may face a Design Aptitude Test and an Interview.

• Master of Management (M.Mgt):

The unique Master of Management program IISc offers focuses on the intersection of technology and management. If you complete this program, you will have the managerial skills necessary to thrive in today’s fast-paced business world. These skills are especially suited to the technologically advanced environment.

Eligibility: You must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent or a master’s degree in Science, Economics, Commerce, or Operations Research, with a good academic record. A valid CAT/GATE/GMAT/GRE score is also required. Shortlisted candidates are called for a group discussion and interview.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD Program at IISc 2025:

There exist 2 pathways to pursue PhD at IISc: 

• Regular PhD: A post-master’s program that typically spans five years.
• Integrated PhD: A post-bachelor’s program that combines a master’s degree and PhD, ideal for those aiming to dive into research early.

Academic Qualifications-

• For Integrated PhD: Applicants need a bachelor’s degree in their chosen field or a related discipline.
• For Regular PhD: A master’s degree in the relevant field is required. Certain departments may have specific GPA or CGPA requirements, so it’s best to check these on the IISc website.

Entrance Exam Requirements-

• Integrated PhD: IIT-JAM (Joint Admission Test for Masters) is required. For Physics, JEST (Joint Entrance Screening Test) scores are also accepted.
• Regular PhD: GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or NET JRF (National Eligibility Test for Junior Research Fellowship) scores are required.

Note that these are the general eligibility criteria. JAM, GATE, or JEST cutoffs vary from department to department and for reservation categories. It is advisable to keep yourself updated.

IISc 2025 Application Form

Below we have provided the important details with some instructions regarding the IISc Application Form 2025:

• Application Form will be released through online mode.
• The IISc 2025 Application Form will be made available for eligible Applicants only, so Applicants must confirm their eligibility before applying for it.
• Applicants will have to provide all the required details with required documents in the application form.
• The details filled by Applicants in the application form should be the same as it appears in their marksheet, any alteration can cause rejection of application form.
• Every candidate must fill the application form before the last date of submission as no Applicants will be allowed to submit the application form after that date.

Steps to Apply for IISc Bangalore Admission

1. Visit the IISc Bangalore website.
2. Select the Degree programs and select one of the desired.
3. Select the courses you are willing to apply for.
4. After that you will be redirected to a course-specific admission page which will show the details of the course. Click on the Apply Online option.
5. New students have to register by giving the mandatory details.
6. After the registration is verified, candidates can log in and apply for the desired course.
7. Fill out the information on the IISc Bangalore application form.
8. Make the payment and submit.

Application Fee:

IISc Cut-Off 2025:

Cut off will be the minimum marks set by the official authority for every registered Applicants. The cut off list will be released separately for every required national level entrance examination. The Official Authority will release the cut off marks for every category individually. Applicants will have to score more than prescribed cut off marks to be eligible for further admission.

IISc 2025 Cut off list will not be sent to any Applicants individually through post or any other offline mode. Applicants will have to check the cut off marks by themselves through the official website.

IISc Rank List 2025:

Rank list/Merit list will be released by the official authority after the completion of registration process. Official authority will release the IISc 2025 Merit list for selected applicants for further admission procedure only. Applicants will be selected for the admission on the basis of their performances in the required national level entrance exam.

The merit list will contain the all India rank of every shortlisted candidate for admission procedure. Applicants will be able to check the merit list through the official website.
