The much-awaited IISER 2023 Application form has been released on 15 April on the official website. Aspirants who have been eagerly waiting for this announcement can now heave a sigh of relief. The IISER Aptitude Test is an entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) for admission to the 5 years BS-MS Dual Degree program. This examination is highly competitive and attracts many applicants every year.

IISER offers admission through three channels – the KVPY channel, JEE Advanced channel & IISER Aptitude test (IAT) channel. The candidates that are qualified in these channels are offered admission to various IISERs across the country. There are 7 IISERs located in Tirupati, Mohali, Bhopal, Berhampur, Kolkata, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.

IISER 2023 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates MUST qualify for the following Eligibility Criteria.

General Eligibility (it is applicable to all channels):

Nationality-Candidates must be Indian nationals or PIO/ OCI.
Qualification-Candidates must have passed the 12th or equivalent level exam with a science stream in 2022 or 2023 from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE).
Qualifying marks-Candidates of the General/ OBC & OBC-NCL category should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination (55% marks for SC/ ST PWD candidates.
Qualifying subjects-Students in the 12th level must have passed with at least 3 subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology to be considered as from the ‘Science stream.’

Channel Wise Eligibility:

  • For the IAT channel: Candidates seeking admission in IISER through this channel should appear for IISER Aptitude Test 2023.
  • For the KVPY channel: Candidates seeking admission through this channel should have a valid KVPY fellowship starting from the 2023-24 academic session.
  • For JEE Advanced: Candidates should have secured rank within 15,000 in the common rank list (for Gen/ OBC categories) or in respective category rank lists (for Gen-EWS/ OBC-NCL/ ST/ SC/PwD categories) to apply via this channel.

Note: Candidates applying for admission via JEE Advanced channel or KVPY channel need not appear for IAT 2023.
