Candidates who are highly interested in building a career in research and science education should appear for the IISER Aptitude Test. Every year, thousands of students who have completed their Class 12 or are dropouts appear for the exam, and with each passing year, the competition has become more intense.
Candidates aspiring for BS-MS, BS, or BTech degree programmes offered through the IISER Entrance Exam 2026 must start their exam preparation as early as possible to secure a seat in their desired institute. Knowing the IISER 2026 expected cut-off helps candidates understand the safe score required for admission and plan their preparation accordingly.
Since the exam authorities do not release the official IISER cut-off, it becomes difficult for candidates to determine the IISER 2026 cut-off and to know whether the data available online can be trusted.
SciAstra, a trusted platform among IISER and NEST aspirants across the nation, has compiled the expected IISER 2026 cut-off to help candidates understand the level of competition and what constitutes a good score in the exam.
The IISER 2026 exam notification is anticipated to be released in the fourth week of January 2026. With only a few months remaining for the exam, knowing the IAT 2026 cut-off will help test-takers strengthen their preparation and perform efficiently.

The IISER 2026 merit list includes the names of candidates selected for admission to various courses offered by the seven IISER institutes. The exam authorities release the merit list in the form of opening and closing ranks, categorized institute-wise and category-wise.
Candidates whose ranks fall within the announced opening and closing ranks must take further action by accepting, freezing, floating, or rejecting the allotted seat according to their preferences.
Furthermore, the IAT 2026 merit list is prepared based on the following key factors:
Total number of students who appeared for the IISER Entrance Exam
Total number of seats available
Marks secured by the candidates
Rank obtained (both AIR and category rank)
What is IISER 2026 Seat Allotment List?
IISER 2026 Seat Allotment List will be released by the exam officials after the successful registration in the IAT 2026 counselling process is once done. The list will display the names of candidates who have been provisionally allotted seats in various IISERs, IISc, or IIT Madras based on their IAT 2026 scores, rank, category, and preferences.
Candidates must note that the IAT 2026 allotment will be carried out in multiple rounds, depending on the availability of seats and the number of qualified candidates. In each round of the seat allotment list, the exam officials will specify the institute and programme allotted to the candidate. Candidates whose AIR rank is mentioned in the list must confirm their admission by paying the required seat acceptance fee within the specified deadline.
