The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is a research and higher education institute. Having been founded in 1931, this unique institution in India is among the oldest institutes with a focus on statistics. The Indian Parliament's Act of 1959 designates it as an Institution of National Importance. Baranagar, West Bengal, serves as the home base for ISI. It has a branch in Giridih in addition to four academically oriented auxiliary centres in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Tezpur. The institute also maintains a network of statistical quality control and operations research units in Vadodara, Giridih, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune that assist businesses both inside and outside of India in creating cutting-edge quality management systems and resolving pressing issues with quality, dependability, and productivity.

[Disclaimer: In this article, we will primarily focus on UG courses, i.e., B.Stat and B.Math]
For UG courses:
A candidate must have successfully completed 10+2 years of Higher Secondary Education (or its equivalent), with Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects, in order to be admitted to UG programmes.
Stipends, fellowships, and book and travel grants are awarded to all non-sponsored students and research fellows accepted into UG programmes. Stipends are initially only given out for a single semester or academic year. They are periodically renewed if the student's progress is deemed sufficient. A stipend/fellowship of Rs. 3000 per month is awarded to students in UG programmes (i.e., B Stat (Hons)/B Math (Hons)).
After completion of the programme, a student can secure a package starting from 20-30 LPA in top companies like Goldmann Sachs, JP Morgan, Google, Samsung, Reliance, Flipkart, Amazon, MasterCard, PayPal, etc. Most recruiters are from the Banking and finance sector. IT industries are the second major recruiters.
Many of the ISI alumni are working on their PhDs and research projects in world-famous universities such as Chennai Mathematical Institute, the University of Michigan, the University of Illinois, IIT Bombay, TIFR Mumbai, the University of Pennsylvania, John Hopkins University, etc.
Indian Statistical Institute is one of the top institutes in the nation. It is an institute with exceptionally qualified faculty, top facilities and the most inexpensive fee structure. The difficulty level of the ISI entrance exam pattern is equivalent to the International Maths Olympiad. Hence, a strong passion for Maths and a deep conceptual grasp are mandatory for admission to this institute. In order to lay a strong foundation, SciAstra provides a variety of courses to ace this entrance exam. To check out these courses, download the SciAstra app and get well-structured study guidance.
