IAT 2026 Registration is ongoing for candidates interested in pursuing their graduate degree in research-oriented courses and institutes such as IISERs, IISc Bangalore, IACS, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, and other institutes.
The last date to fill out the IISER 2026 Application Form is April 13, 2026. Interested applicants who meet the IAT 206 eligibility criteria can complete the application form online on the official website. In order to do so, candidates need to register themselves first, create a registered account and then log in to the registered account with the login credentials to complete the application form.
The IAT 2026 exam is scheduled to be held on June 7, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM in online (CBT) mode to test candidates’ domain knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical understanding in subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. According to the IAT 2026 exam pattern, there will be 60 Multiple-Choice questions, with 15 questions from each subject. The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 will be considered for preparing the IAT 2026 rank list.

IAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for IAT 2026.
Nationality: Applicants must be Indian nationals, OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals to apply for IAT 2026.
Qualification for Indian Students: Candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination either in 2024 or 2025 or appearing in 2026 from any board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India.
Qualification for Foreign Nationals: Foreign Nationals need to upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities unless they have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2024 or 2025 or are appearing in 2026 with a science stream from any board recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. The equivalence certificate must be uploaded while submitting the IAT 2026 Application Form under "Please upload a copy of the document supporting your claim of Foreign National".
Subject Requirement: Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
Minimum Percentage Requirement: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Note that the percentage needs to be calculated using aggregate marks, that is, considering all the subjects taken at the Class XII (or equivalent) level.
Eligibility for Specific Programmes: For admissions to the following programmes, candidates must have Mathematics during their Class XII (or equivalent): 5-year BS-MS in Computational and Data Sciences programme at IISER Kolkata, 4-year BTech programme at IISER Bhopal, 4-year BS in Economic Sciences program at IISER Bhopal and 4-year BS in Economic and Statistical Sciences program at IISER Tirupati.

There are changes in the IAT 2026 seat matrix. The number of seats at IISER Tirupati has increased to 350. Earlier, the total number of seats at the institute was 250.
IISER Bhopal has reduced the number of seats for BTech in Engineering Sciences to 115. Earlier, the total number of seats for the programme was 140.
IISER Bhopal has increased the number of seats for BS in Economic Sciences to 55. Earlier, the number of seats for the programme was 55. The total number of seats offered in IISERs for the academic session 2026-2027 is 2343.
