IISER Aptitude Test 2026 will be conducted on June 7, 2026, in the morning shift from 9 AM to 12 PM at multiple eam centres across the nation. The exam officials will be testing candidates’ domain knowledge, critical and analytical understanding of the IISER 2026 syllabus from the subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
At this time, most of the students must have completed their IAT 2026 exam syllabus, and there must be some students who are yet to complete their syllabus-wise exam preparation. There is a catch that merely completing the syllabus won’t be sufficient to get admissions to the research institutes like IISERs, IISc, IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, IACS and IIEST Shibpur.
The important factor that plays a major role here to top the exam is whether you have inculcated the critical, thinking and analytical skills so that you can use them to solve the questions asked in the IAT 2026 exam.
In order to boost the exam strategy, SciAstra presenting the IAT 2026 last week's strategy to get into the dream college.
IAT 2026 Last Week Strategy
Candidates taking the exam are advised not to take up the new, uncovered topics from the IAT syllabus. This will waste their time by first understanding the concept, then solving numerical problems on that or going through the previous year's question papers. It is advisable to stick to the topics that were earlier covered by the candidates and give proper time for revision. Stay calm and sharpen your strategies by trusting the amount to decuadation/work you have already done.
Here is last week's preparation strategy:

Align your Biological Clock
Attempt Full Mock Test: Sit down in absolute isolation, no pauses, no phones, and just mimic the real-time exam.
Ruthless Analysis: Circle things you forgot but knew back in your mind. If you stumble on a topic, it's better to drop it now and focus on the ones you have more command.
June 1-2: Class 11 Core Review
June 1: (Physics & Chemistry): Important Topic Strategy
Physics | Chemistry | Strategy |
Mechanics (Kinematics, Laws of Motion, WPE), Gravitation and core Rotational Formulas. | Mole Concept, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding and Thermodynamics. | Flip through Formulas. Glancingg over recent 3-year PYQs is faster than solving from scratch. |
June 2: (Maths & Biology): Important Topic Strategy
Mathematics | Biology | Strategy |
Coordinate Geometry, Quadratic Equations, Sequence & Basic Trigonometry. | Plant Physiology, Human Physiology and Cell Structure/Division Blocks. | Biology demands active recall. Hide the page and explain a process to yourself in 1 minute. |
June 5: Rest, Recharge & Recall
This day plays a very important role in the exam strategy. Here, candidates are required to lower their stress levels. Put away heavy tests and hard, unsolvable tasks. Test takers' main goal should be mental recovery.
Glance at modern physics formulas and inorganic exceptions.
Pack your physical bag: Admit card, original ID and Black pens.
Sleep by 10 PM and rest your brain, as it will retrieve information 30% faster.
Target Time Allocation
To build early confidence, tackle the paper from the lowest calculation overhead to the highest. Lock in quick marks first.
Biology (20-30 Mins): Pure recall, Mark and fly through.
Chemistry (35-40 Mins): Inorganic first, Physical calculation last.
Physics (45-50 Mins): Focus on direct formula-based questions.
Mathematics (50-55 Mins): Methodical calculations with maximum focus.
Tactics Inside the Exam Hall
1-Min Skip Rule
Read a question. If no clear solution trigger strikes you within 45 seconds, skip it immediately. Do not let ego waste your time.
Two-Round Strategy
Round 1:
Sweep the entire paper, securing easy, straightforward marks.
Round 2:
Revisit calculation-heavy and moderate puzzles with your buffer time.
Expect Speedbumps
You might hit three tough questions in a row. That is normal. Take a deep breath. They are just filter questions. Skip them cheerfully to find the easy ones.
