IAT 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment List Released at iiseradmission.in; Check Opening and Closing Ranks

The Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) have officially released the IAT 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment List on July 24, 2026, on the official website. Test takers who have participated in the IAT 2026 counselling process can now check out the Round 1 opening and closing ranks for admission to the 7 IISER institutes.

Along with the seat allotment result, the authorities have also published the category-wise opening and closing ranks for all seven IISER participating institutes in the admission process. The ranks have been released separately for different reservation categories, enabling candidates to understand the admission trends for each institute and programme.

IAT 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment Released

The Round 1 seat allotment offers will be allotted based on the following factors:

• Seat availability for each academic programme at each IISER in the current allocation round.

• IAT 2026 rank secured by the candidate.

• Order of preferences submitted by the candidate for academic programmes across different IISERs.

• Candidate's category (General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, etc.) as applicable under the reservation policy.

How to Access the IAT 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment Result

1. Candidates should visit the official IISER Admissions portal ie., iiseradmission.in and log in using their registered username and password. After logging in, they can view their Round 1 seat allotment status and choose either the Freeze or Float option for the allotted seat within the specified deadline.

2. The admission authorities will also email candidates who have been allotted a seat in Round 1. The email will mention the IISER allotted to the candidate based on their IAT 2026 rank, preferences submitted during counselling, category, and seat availability. It will also include instructions regarding the next steps in the admission process.

What After IAT 2026 Round 1 Seat Allotment?

During the IAT 2026 counselling process, when a candidate is alloted a seat in any of the IISER institutes, they need to consider the following the options:

• Candidates must accept or reject the allotted seat before the deadline. Those who reject the seat or fail to respond will not be considered for further counselling rounds.

• To accept the seat, candidates must pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) within the prescribed deadline. Failure to pay the SAF will result in disqualification from subsequent rounds.

• After paying the SAF, candidates can choose either:

  • Freeze: Confirm the allotted seat and exit the counselling process.

  • Float: Retain the current seat while remaining eligible for a higher-preference programme in the upcoming counselling rounds, subject to seat availability.

• Candidates whose preferred programmes are already filled will not be considered in further counselling rounds.

• All admission offers are provisional and will be confirmed only after document verification and reporting at the allotted IISER.
