IISER Counselling 2026: Registeration (July 2-9), SAF, Seat Allotment, Withdrawal Details

The IISER 2026 counselling process was started on July 2, 2026 on the official IISER Admission website, iiseradmission.in. The counselling registration is open until July 9, 2026.

Test takers willing to take admissions to the BS-MS/BS/BTech degree courses need to register for the counselling process and pay the fees within the timeline mentioned by the exam officials. Based on the registrations done and seat intake for the courses offered, the IISER 2026 seat allotment list will be released. Candidates will be given the option to accept or reject/freeze/float the seat.

IAT 2026 Counselling Process Steps

The IAT 2026 Counselling Process is conducted online through the IISER admission portal. Candidates who qualify the IAT 2026 and appear in the merit list must complete each step within the specified deadlines to secure admission.

Step 1: Register for Counselling

• Visit the IISER admission portal.

• Log in using your User ID and Password.

• Complete the counselling registration.

• Verify your personal, academic, and category details before proceeding.

Step 2: Fill and Lock Your Preferences

• Select your preferred institutes and programmes.

• Arrange your choices in the desired order of preference.

• Review your selections carefully.

• Lock and submit your choices before the deadline. Unlocked choices may not be considered.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

Seats are allotted for admissions based on the following factors:

• IAT 2026 rank

• Category

• Programme and institute preferences

• Seat availability

The counselling will be conducted in multiple rounds.

Step 4: Check the Seat Allotment Result

• Log in to the admission portal.

• Download your seat allotment/offer letter if a seat has been allotted.

• Carefully read all instructions mentioned in the offer letter.

Step 5: Choose Freeze or Float

After receiving a seat, candidates generally have the following options:

• Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and opt out of further counselling rounds.

• Float: Accept the allotted seat but remain eligible for an upgrade to a higher-preference choice in subsequent rounds.

Step 6: Pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)

• Pay the prescribed Seat Acceptance Fee within the given deadline.

• Failure to pay the fee will lead to cancellation of the allotted seat.

Step 7: Participate in Further Rounds (If Applicable)

• Candidates choosing the Float option are automatically considered for the next round.

• If a better preference is allotted, candidates must again choose whether to Freeze or continue Floating (as permitted).

Step 8: Upload/Verify Required Documents

Candidates may be required to upload or present documents such as the following:

• IAT 2026 Rank Card

• Class 10 Mark Sheet

• Class 12 Mark Sheet and Passing Certificate

• Category/EWS/PwD Certificate (if applicable)

• Valid Photo ID

• Passport-size Photographs

• Other documents specified by the allotted institute.

Step 9: Report to the Allotted Institute

• Complete physical or online reporting (as instructed).

• Submit original documents for verification.

• Pay the remaining admission fee.

• Complete institute-specific admission formalities within the prescribed timeline.

Step 10: Confirm Admission

After successful document verification and fee payment, your admission is confirmed.

Attend the orientation programme and begin the academic session as per the institute schedule.
