MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2027: Qualifications

To be eligible for MHT CET 2027, candidates must have passed or be appearing for the Class 12/HSC examination or an equivalent examination from a recognised board. The educational qualification requirements vary depending on the course, as given below:

  • For BE/BTech: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or a technical or vocational subject.

  • For BPharm/PharmD: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects, along with Mathematics or Biology.

  • For BPlanning: Candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.

There is no upper age limit for appearing in the MHT CET 2027 entrance exam. Candidates who fulfil the prescribed eligibility criteria can appear for the examination.

MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2027: Nationality

Candidates who have only Indian nationality are eligible to appear for the MHT CET examination.

However, those candidates who belong to the following categories are generally exempted from appearing for the MHT CET exam and may seek admission under separate admission rules:

MHT CET Eligibility Criteria 2027: Candidature Types

Candidates applying for the MHT-CET exam are classified into different types of candidatures, such as the following:

(1) Maharashtra State Candidate – A candidate can claim only one type of Maharashtra State Candidature Type, i.e., from Type A to E.

Candidates who have passed SSC and HSC (10+2), a diploma in engineering, or

DVoc from a recognised institution in Maharashtra and are either domiciled in Maharashtra or born in Maharashtra.

Type B

Candidates who do not qualify under Type A, but either they or either of their parents is domiciled in Maharashtra and possess a valid Maharashtra domicile certificate.

Type C

Candidates who do not fall under Type A or Type B but whose father or mother is an employee of the Government of India or a Government of India undertaking and has been posted and reported for duty in Maharashtra before the last date of CAP application submission.

Type D

Candidates who do not qualify under Type A, B, or C but whose father or mother is an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra undertaking.

Type E

Candidates who have passed SSC and HSC (10+2), a diploma in engineering, or DVoc from a recognised institution located in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border area or from Maharashtra; are residing in the Maharashtra–Karnataka border area; and whose mother tongue is Marathi.

(2) All India Candidature – The candidates having Indian nationality are eligible under this category.

(3) Minority Candidature – The candidate belonging to a particular linguistic or religious minority community from the state of Maharashtra and as notified by the government is eligible under this category.

(4) Children of NRIs, children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, OCI/PIO, and foreign nationals – These types of candidates are exempted from appearing for MHT-CET 2026.

(a) It is mandatory to appear for MHT-CET 2026 for candidates belonging to Maharashtra State Candidature or Minority Candidature seeking admission to BE/BTech. However, All India Candidature candidates may or may not appear for MHT-CET 2026, as the score of JEE (Main) 2026 shall be preferred over MHT-CET 2026 for admission to BE/BTech.

(b) It is mandatory to appear for MHT-CET 2026 for candidates belonging to Maharashtra State Candidature or Minority Candidature seeking admission to B.Pharm/Pharm.D. However, All India Candidature candidates may or may not appear for MHT-CET 2026, as the score of NEET 2026 shall be preferred over MHT-CET 2026 for admission to BPharm/PharmD.

MHT CET 2027 Reservation Criteria

The MHT CET 2027 reservation criteria are expected to follow the reservation policy prescribed by the Government of Maharashtra through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).
