The NEET UG 2026 registration process is underway for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BVSc, and other related programmes. The NEET last date application form for the academic session 2026-2027 is March 8, 2026. Before applying, candidates are advised to carefully check the NEET UG 2026 eligibility criteria in advance to avoid losing their candidature during the admission process.

Interested applicants can apply online at neet.nta.nic.in and pay the NEET 2026 registration fee by March 8, 2026, up to 11:50 PM. The National Testing Agency, the exam-conducting body, has announced the NEET 2026 exam date. The entrance exam will be conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode on May 3, 2026, at multiple exam centres across the country from 2 PM to 5 PM.

The exam will test candidates’ understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) through multiple-choice questions based on the NEET 2026 syllabus.

What is NEET 2026 Exam?

NEET UG 2026 is a national-level medical entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for aspirants seeking admission to UG  medical institutes in India. It is the single gateway for programmes such as MBBS, BDS and BVSc & AH offered by government and private medical colleges.

The exam is held once a year in offline (pen-and-paper) mode and tests candidates on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology based on the Class 11 and 12 syllabus. Students who have passed or are appearing in Class 12 with PCB subjects and meet the minimum age requirement can apply.

NEET UG 2026 scores are used for counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats and by respective state authorities for state quota admissions.

NEET 2026 eligibility criteria stipulate the minimal eligibility criteria like educational, age relaxation, nationality and reservation required for an applicant to satisfy:

Age Limit:

He/She has completed the age of 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year that the candidate shall be appearing for NEET-UG examination. Candidates must note that there is no upper age limit for them to appear for the exam.

Nationality

Interested applicants must be Indian citizens. Non-resident Indians, Overseas Citizens of India, Persons of Indian Origin and foreign nationals are also eligible to appear for the exam. The National Testing Agency has specified the NEET UG 2026 exam pattern to assess candidates’ domain understanding based on the prescribed syllabus. As per the updated NEET 2026 exam pattern, 45 questions will be asked from each subject—Zoology, Botany, Physics, and Chemistry. The exam will be conducted for a total of 720 marks and will follow a negative marking scheme.

When is the NEET 2026 Exam?

The NEET 2026 exam will be conducted on May 3, 2026, at multiple exam centres across the nation. The duration of the test will be three hours. Compensatory time of one hour for examination of three hours (03:00 hrs) duration for PwD/PwBD candidate (having a physical limitation to write) will be given, whether such a candidate uses the facility of a scribe or not.

NEET 2026 Exam Medium

NEET UG 2026 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu mediums. Candidates will be allowed to choose one language among the mentioned languages.

  • The medium of the Question Paper should be carefully chosen while filling in the Application Form. The option once chosen cannot be changed.

  • Candidates opting for English would be provided a Test Booklet in English medium only.

  • Candidates opting for Hindi would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi medium.

  • Candidates opting for Regional Languages would be provided a Test Booklet in English + selected Regional Language medium. (For Example: If a candidate opted Tamil (out of 13 languages), the Test Booklet would be provided in English + Tamil.

  • In case of any ambiguity in the translation of a question in the test, its English version shall be treated as final and the decision of NTA shall be final in this regard.

  • For the correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.
