What are the best books for IAT 2026 preparation?
The best books for IAT 2026 are those that focus on conceptual clarity and application-based learning. SciAstra books are specifically designed for IAT and NEST, covering the full syllabus with structured theory and practice. Additionally, NCERT books should be used alongside them for building strong fundamentals in all four subjects.
Are NCERT books enough for IAT preparation?
NCERT books are essential for building a strong foundation, especially in Chemistry and Biology. However, they are not sufficient alone. IAT requires deeper conceptual understanding and application-based practice, so students should supplement NCERT with exam-focused resources like SciAstra books and mock test series.
When should I start preparing for IAT 2026 using SciAstra books?
Ideally, students should start in Class 11 to build strong fundamentals gradually. However, Class 12 students and droppers can still achieve excellent results with a focused and structured study plan. Using well-organised resources like SciAstra books helps streamline preparation even with limited time.
Why Choose SciAstra Books?
All-in-One Learning: SciAstra’s books are designed to take you from fundamentals to advanced levels. Starting with foundational concepts (Level 1), they progress into practice questions directly drawn from past IAT and NEST papers, going back to 2007 (Level 2).
Massive Content but Affordable Pricing: With over 4,100 pages covering PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology), these books are offered at just ₹3,999, covering printing, binding, and doorstep delivery.
Try Before You Buy: Want a sneak peek? Free sample PDFs (two chapters per book) are available on the SciAstra App so you can evaluate the content before committing.
How many questions are there in the IAT question paper?
There are a total of 60 questions in the IAT question paper from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology sections.
A total of 15 questions are asked from each section/subject. Each question carries 4 marks.
Are all four subjects (PCMB) compulsory in the IAT?
The question paper of IAT contains all four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. But, it is not compulsory for candidates to attempt all four sections to get admission to IISERs. It is recommended to attempt all four sections to increase your overall score and chances of selection.
For admission to IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati, and IISc Bengaluru, it is compulsory to attempt Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
How many sections are there in the IAT question paper?
There are four sections in the IAT question paper:
1. Physics (15 questions, 60 marks)
2. Chemistry (15 questions, 60 marks)
3. Mathematics (15 questions, 60 marks)
4. Biology (15 questions, 60 marks)
All the questions in these sections are multiple-choice based questions (MCQs). These questions are asked from NCERT Class 11 and Class 12 PCB syllabi.

Should I use separate books for each subject of IAT or combo booksets?
It depends on your preparation strategy. IAT Combo bookset Vol. 1 and IAT Combo bookset Vol. 2 are ideal for structured, end-to-end preparation covering all subjects. However, subject-wise books are useful if you want to strengthen specific weak areas. A balanced approach—using combo sets with targeted subject practice—often works best.
