IAT 2026: Changes in Number of Seats
There are changes in the IAT 2026 seat matrix. The number of seats at IISER Tirupati has increased to 350. Earlier, the total number of seats at the institute was 250.
IISER Bhopal has reduced the number of seats for BTech in Engineering Sciences to 115. Earlier, the total number of seats for the programme was 140.
IISER Bhopal has increased the number of seats for BS in Economic Sciences to 55. Earlier, the number of seats for the programme was 55.

IAT 2026 Exam Pattern
There are no changes in the IAT 2026 exam pattern. As per the latest exam pattern details, IAT 2026 will be conducted as a computer-based test in various centres across India.
IAT will consist of 60 questions, 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.
The total duration of the test will be 180 minutes. Questions will be of the multiple-choice type. Each question will have only one correct answer.
Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks.
Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of 1 mark.
Unanswered questions will be awarded 0 mark.
Therefore, maximum marks in IAT will be 240.
The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 will be considered for preparing the Rank List.
IAT 2026 Syllabus
The IAT 2026 will broadly follow the rationalised NCERT syllabus (2025-2026) of Classes 11 & 12 for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. There are no changes in the syllabus of the test in 2026.
