Eligibility:

Candidates satisfying the following eligibility criteria may apply for admission to the MTech and ME programs:

  • Those with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or a related field.
  • Professional society examinations are equivalent to the B.E./B.Tech., approved by the MoE, UPSSC, and AICTE (such as AMIE offered by Institutions of Engineers). Note: Only applicants who were enrolled up until May 31, 2013, and whose professional societies (like AMIE) have been recognised by the MoE may apply.
  • Holders of master’s degrees in science fields such as mathematics, physics with electronics, geology, instrumentation, computer application, and physics, as applicable to the particular department offering M.Tech. programs.
  • For the M. Tech. program, all candidates must be qualified by the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2024/2023/2022) and have valid scores as of August 1, 2024.

Note: You need not provide scores of the GATE exam while applying to IISc. You can submit your scores after your GATE scores are released. Also, the above eligibility criteria are provided on the official website of IISc, and you must keep an eye on their website for the latest updates on eligibility criteria.

Selection Procedure:

The selection procedure is usually the same for most departments. Candidates are evaluated based on their performance in bachelor’s degree, GATE scores and interview processes. To sum up:
