Mistakes to Avoid while filling out CUET 2026 Application Form

Once you are acquainted with all the important details related to the CUET 2026 form, you can fill it out. However, while doing so, you must avoid certain mistakes to ensure that your admission is not cancelled.

Check out the list of mistakes that must be avoided while filling out the CUET 2026 application form to get admission to institutes accepting CUET 2026 scores:

1. Wrong Personal Details

One of the most common mistakes candidates make while filling out the CUET application form is entering incorrect personal details such as their name, parents’ names, address, contact information, and other information. These errors must be avoided.

While filling out the CUET 2026 application form, you must enter personal details exactly as mentioned on your Aadhaar Card.

The NTA released an advisory regarding the CUET 2026 application process on December 27, 2026, at cuet.nta.nic.in. According to this advisory, details such as name, date of birth, gender, photograph, and address will be fetched from UIDAI through Aadhaar authentication.

Therefore, if the details in your Aadhaar Card are incorrect, you must get them corrected before filling out the form.

2. Filling Out Multiple CUET Application Forms

Many candidates fill out two or more CUET forms if they enter wrong details in their first one. You should note that you need to apply only once in a particular session.

Therefore, fill out the CUET 2026 application form only once. If you make any mistakes while filling it out, you can correct the following details during the CUET 2026 application correction window from February 2 to 4, 2026, at cuet.nta.nic.in:

The passport-size photo should be recent, not more than 3 months old, and taken against a solid background (not printed or patterned).

Do not wear sunglasses or accessories such as jewellery, earphones, etc., in the photo. The signature should be done on plain white paper using a blue or black pen.

4. Not Uploading Live Photo

Candidates must not forget to upload a live photo along with the form while applying for CUET 2026. A "live photo" refers to clicking a picture using the webcam of your computer or the camera of your phone and uploading it directly to the form.

5. Wrong Category Details

The details related to your category—such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or Divyangjan (PwD)—must be entered correctly at the time of applying for CUET 2026 to avail the benefits provided to reserved categories.

6. Not Updating Category Certificate

After the conclusion of CUET 2026, you will need a category certificate at the time of counselling if you belong to a reserved category. Therefore, all reserved category candidates, including SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, and PwD, must obtain an updated category certificate for admission to CUET participating universities.

Candidates belonging to OBC (NCL) and EWS categories should have certificates issued on or after March 31, 2026, for admission through CUET 2026. If you have applied for the certificate but have not yet received it by the time of admission, you can enter the application number of your category certificate.

7. Incorrect Email Address and Mobile Number

Your email address and mobile number will be used for all communication from the CUET 2026 application process to CUET 2026 counselling. All important updates about the admission process will be sent to your registered email ID and mobile number. Therefore, make sure to provide a valid and active email address and phone number that will remain active until the end of the admission process.

Do not enter the email ID or mobile number of a friend or relative, as you may not receive timely information.

8. Incorrect APAAR ID

If you have an APAAR ID, make sure to enter it correctly in the CUET 2026 application form. If you do not have one, you can skip this field. Ensure you don’t enter any incorrect information.

An APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) is a unique 12-digit digital identifier for Indian students created under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It acts as a "One Nation, One Student ID" to digitally store all academic records, achievements, and credits in a single, permanent account linked to DigiLocker.

8. Incorrect Subject Mapping

Subject mapping refers to aligning the subjects you select in CUET with those required by the university or course you wish to apply for. This ensures that you meet the eligibility criteria for admission.

Subject mapping must be done accurately to avoid rejection of your candidature at CUET participating universities.

It is recommended that all candidates visit the official website of their preferred university and check the CUET 2026 subject combination or mapping requirements for their chosen course.

9. Wrong or Manipulated Educational Details

Candidates must not manipulate their educational details, such as passing year or marks (percentage/CGPA) for Class 10 and Class 12. These details must be entered exactly as they appear in official documents.

Do not round off your percentage while filling out the form. For example, if your Class 12 percentage is 92.8%, do not enter it as 93%. Enter your actual percentage without any changes.

10. Skipping Proofreading of the Form

Do not forget to proofread the CUET 2026 application form. Check all the details carefully for typing errors, spelling mistakes, and incorrect entries before submission.

11. Asking Someone Else to Fill the Form

Do not ask someone else such as a friend, relative, or cyber café staff to fill out your CUET application form. They may not know your details and could end up entering incorrect information.

12. Incorrect CUET Medium and Centre

Select the correct medium—that is, the language in which you wish to appear for the CUET 2026 exam. Also, choose test centres close to your current location for convenience.

13. Not Downloading the Confirmation Page

Do not forget to download the “Confirmation Page” generated after submitting the CUET 2026 application form. This page will be required during the counselling process.

Conclusion

Filling out the CUET 2026 application form accurately is the first and most crucial step toward securing admission to top central and participating universities. Even small errors such as incorrect personal details, wrong subject mapping, unclear document uploads, or invalid contact information—can lead to the rejection of your candidature. By carefully understanding the application process, following official NTA guidelines, and avoiding the common mistakes discussed above, candidates can ensure a smooth and error-free application experience. Before final submission, always proofread the form, verify uploaded documents, and download the confirmation page for future reference.
