About IISER Pune BS-MS Dual Degree
The IISER Pune BS-MS dual degree programme aims to integrate the conventional bachelor's and master's programmes into a more holistic science education experience, bringing together the biological, chemical, mathematical, physical and earth sciences.

The curriculum of the BS-MS degrees is built over 8 semesters of courses, including laboratory and lecture courses and semester-long projects, followed by 2 semesters of a Master's research project.
The curricular structure of the IISER Pune BS-MS courses will have 3 semesters of courses in all branches of the sciences, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a few courses from Earth Sciences, Humanities, and courses of a trans-disciplinary or foundational nature.
Starting with the third semester and into the fourth semester, students will have the option of choosing two disciplines as pre-major choices, moving on to one discipline as the major discipline.
Students who wish to major in a particular discipline will be mandated to successfully complete a set of courses prescribed for that discipline.
Students who do not wish to choose a major discipline will have the freedom to take courses of their liking until they complete a certain number of total course credits.

1. Fill out the IAT 2026 Application Form
The first step for admission to the BS-MS Dual Degree programme offered by IISER Pune is to fill out the IAT 2026 application form, as admission is offered to candidates through the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026.

3. Participate in IAT 2026 Counselling
It is mandatory for all candidates selected in the IAT 2026 merit list to apply for the counselling process by visiting the IISER admissions website. The entire counselling process will be conducted online.
Eligible candidates will receive an admission offer via email. They can check for admission offers by logging into their application portal.
If a candidate receives an admission offer, they can either accept the seat or reject it. If the candidate rejects the offered seat or takes no action before the deadline, they will not be able to participate in further rounds of counselling.
If a candidate receives an offer, they must pay a seat acceptance fee online before the prescribed deadline to select “Accept & Float” or “Accept & Freeze”.
If the seat acceptance fee (SAF) is not paid, the candidate will not be considered for admission in subsequent allocation rounds.
The admission of candidates who select “Accept & Freeze” and pay the SAF for a particular IISER will be confirmed.
Candidates who pay the SAF and select “Accept & Float” must participate in subsequent rounds of counselling.
Admission to an IISER will depend on the following factors:
